Locate Structural Support in Tampa, FL
Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, LLC. (GPRS) was contacted by a real estate developer in order to determine the construction methods used in constructing an apartment building in Tampa, Florida. The company needed to determine how the building was originally constructed in order to determine with their structural engineers, how to remodel the building properly. The company contacted GPRS of Florida in order to determine what materials were used throughout different areas of the apartment building such as beams, columns, roofing, floors and walls.
Justin Rasanow of GPRS was contacted in order to perform the survey at this location. Using our 1600MHz antenna radar equipment, we were able to map different materials used in the construction on the surfaces of the areas surveyed. The developer was pleased with our results and with their structural engineers, will now determine how to best remodel the building.
Below is a photo taken on-site which depicts our surface mapping of a hollow-core slab. This mapping shows where the hollow-cores are (marked as "HC"), where steel was located (marked as "rebar"), and where the seams were. Also, pre-stressed cables were located between each hollow-core section, but were not marked in this section due to congestion.
